- Cooked mac and cheese
- Burger Buns
- Cheddar Cheese
- 1 Pound Ground Turkey
- Lemon Pepper Seasoning
Season 1 pound of thawed ground turkey with lemon pepper seasoning and salt. Grab about a palm size of seasoned ground turkey. The amount of ground turkey you use for each burger depends on how big or small you want your burger to be. Create a ball shape with the ground turkey, then by using your hands or with a spoon, create an indentation in the middle of the ball, creating a sort of pocket. In this pocket you will add your cooked mac and cheese. When I made my macaroni burgers I added baked mac and cheese to the middle of my burgers.
Once you add your cooked mac and cheese into the pocket, close the ball back up. If you ball doesn’t close all the way then you may need to add some more ground turkey to the ball to close that side up. Set aside that finished ball and begin to make another ground turkey ball with mac and cheese added inside the pocket. Once you make a couple balls you can begin cooking them.
On the stove I added coconut oil to the bottom of my saucepan but you can use any cooking oil you prefer. Next I began cooking my burgers, occasionally pressing down on the patties with a spatula to create a better patty shape and to allow the heat to work all the way through the patty.
Once your patties are almost cooked to your desire, add a slice of cheddar cheese to the top of your patty so it has time to melt. I used one slice of cheese but feel free to add more to the top and bottom of the patty to add more cheesiness. Next, add your mac and cheese patty to your hamburger buns, and then serve. If desired you can toast your hamburger buns so that they will be warm along with the patty.
